The Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society is one of Kenya's oldest & largest specialty coffee cooperatives. Over 15,000 small farmers are members, and they deliver cherry to one of the nineteen regional wet mills (called "factories" in Kenya). With nineteen different wet mills, each separating coffees into multiple lots, there's a wide range of coffees produced by Othaya.
Othaya operates one central dry mill for final dry milling, screening/sorting and finally to be cupped & scored for export or domestic sale. Othaya also operates a very large nursery (holds up to 120,000 seedlings) with both traditional specialty Kenyan varieties (SL28, SL34), and newer disease-resistant varieties (Ruiru 11, Batian).
